Internship Program
Editorial, advertising, marketing, circulation, and web internships are available at D Magazine Partners, publishers of D Magazine, D Home, D Weddings, D CEO, Dallas Medical Directory, three community newspapers under the heading People Newspapers, and numerous custom publications. A strong interest and experience in the area in which you apply are preferred, in addition to excellent computer, communication, and organizational skills. Must be willing to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment under tight deadlines. Although internships are unpaid, D Magazine Partners interns gain invaluable real-world work experience. Interns should be available to work a minimum of 12 hours per week between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.

Web Design Internship
The web design team is looking for a tech savvy interactive designer to assist with the creation of online content. Must possess high attention to detail and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, typography and layout for digital media, preparing and optimizing images for the web, and basic HTML/CSS skills. Experience with email marketing a plus.
Editorial Research Internship
Do timelines and deadlines turn you on? Or, perhaps factual errors don't stand a chance against your type A personality. Do you consider Excel spreadsheets a work of art? Our research editor is looking for a detail-oriented, Excel-savvy, reliable self-starter with uncanny organizational skills to work on our Best lists. Primary responsibilities include fact checking through phone calls, email, and internet; researching contact information; managing databases; and proofing the Medical Directories. Phone shy applicants need not apply. You'll also have the opportunity to cover local events, and submit reports for posting on our blogs. Bonus: the ideal candidate likes to have fun and keep up with reality TV gossip.
D Custom Marketing Internship
The D Custom marketing team is looking for a motivated and self-driven intern to work beside the marketing coordinator on multiple projects. We are seeking an intern with a background in journalism or marketing and a strong grasp of the online and social environment. He or she will be asked to assist the marketing coordinator and director with the following: • Article research, writing, and editing for the agency blog • Researching and building lists for marketing and publicity opportunities • Marketing initiatives and campaigns • Social media research and monitoring for the agency and its clients The ideal candidate will have held at least one professional internship, demonstrate strong writing skills, have experience growing his/her own communities on various social media channels, and be capable of working independently to accomplish tasks.
D Custom Internship
D Custom, a custom content agency offering marketing communications and custom content programs that connect businesses with customers, is looking to hire interns to join their team. Interns will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic group and actually do real work. If you are interested in working for an agency and interacting with clients, please apply. Tasks that previous interns have done include copy editing, fact checking, image searches, marketing tasks, traffic management, client revisions, and assisting with sales support. If you are looking to have a taste of how an agency operates, this is your chance. We will integrate you into the team quickly so that you are able to gain real life perspective.
Advertising/Sales Intern
Interns in the advertising/sales department will aid the team by gathering materials to provide to clients, creating logs of advertisers in competitor publications, helping to complete projects for the sales team, and helping to better organize the department. Interning with the advertising/sales department is a great way to get experience and interact with all departments, not just advertising/sales. You will see first-hand how special sections and sponsorship opportunities are developed, as well as the follow through and end product.
Audience Development Intern
As an audience development intern, you will assist the circulation and web departments with analytical procedures of magazine distribution and help us market our magazines to subscribers and newsstand buyers. The intern will assist with various social media projects and tracking. The intern will also assist in collecting competitor magazine samples, maintaining subscriber databases, creating department newsletters, as well as other administrative duties including copying, filing, and assisting with large mailings. The ideal candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and have strong organizational skills.
Brand Promotion Intern
This position focuses on content marketing and promotions-marketing D editorial content, seminars, events, and website stories locally and, in some cases, nationally. Work will be varied: from developing contact lists, to working with media, to fact-checking data, to assisting with events, to developing promotional ideas creatively. Most important, this position will help to manage our social media strategy. Also, as we are a content-based company, good writing skills are a must. We're not talking Proust here, just solid error-free communication. If you like the pace of a political campaign, working with young, creative people, and can work at an internship that offers no pay but great experience, the brand team may be for you. Editorial Intern
Want to know how a magazine really comes together? Join our team. You'll discover the glamorous (and sometimes non-glamorous) side of publishing. Our editorial departments are looking for organized, eager, reliable interns for the spring, summer, and fall sessions. Primary responsibilities include fact checking articles through phone calls, e-mail, and internet; researching; running errands as needed (e.g. collecting or returning items used in photo shoots, picking up documents, checking out an off-site location); covering local events, and submitting reports for posting on our blogs; writing brief blurbs and listings; working on projects for other departments and publications as availability permits. If you're dedicated, meticulous, and fun with great ideas, you'll make a nice addition to our team.
Graphic Design Intern
The D Magazine editorial and adverting design team is looking for a motivated and creative design intern. The design intern will have the opportunity to work with and learn from a very talented and friendly group of art directors, as well as assist with photo shoots and art direction. Ideal candidates must posses a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and pay attention to detail.
Marketing Intern
The marketing department is looking for interns interested in event planning, promotions, and media marketing. An ideal applicant will be hard working, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. As a marketing intern, you will observe, plan, and execute internal/external events, assist the marketing team with data entry, research, and mailings, attend planning meetings, and other tasks as needed. Must be 21 to apply.
Online Photography Intern
As an online photo intern, you'd be working with the creative team to shoot on location throughout the Dallas area. In a typical week, you'd be photographing everything from food, interiors, exteriors and events. Your credited photographs would be featured on D's websites, blogs, directories, and even our iPhone app.
Requirements:
-Able to travel to multiple locations in DFW throughout the week.
-Detail and deadline oriented.
-Provide own equipment (digital cameras only.)
-Ability to setup your own shoots and interact with subjects professionally.
-The more volume you can shoot, the better. (If you have a full time job, this likely isn't for you.)
People Newspapers Advertising/Sales Intern

Interns will be exposed to all facets of the advertising/marketing efforts of the newspaper: completing special projects for Marketing Consultants including gathering materials to provide to clients, cold calling to update/maintain client databases, phone prospecting, updating sales tools/marketing collateral, creating logs of advertisers in competitor publications, and assisting Marketing Manager in event planning/execution. A great introduction into the publishing world, and includes opportunities to interact with all departments, not just advertising/marketing. Get ready for a fast-moving, and dynamic semester!
People Newspapers Editorial Intern
People Newspapers is looking for interns who are willing to get a little ink on their hands. Editorial interns will be responsible for a variety of projects, including editing police blotters, proofreading, compiling calendars, and-once you've proven yourself-writing stories. We need applicants with a love for the AP Stylebook and a desire to learn what makes a community special.
People Newspapers Production Intern
The production department is looking for an intern interested in newspaper layout/production and website management and branding. Applicants should be detail-oriented, hard working, organized, and team players. Ideal applicants will be interested in the art and design aspect of newspaper production and have web knowledge. While working with the production team, you will be assisting in website development (including social networking), paper layout, and organizational duties, among other things.
Shopping/Weddings Intern
This intern will work for our Shopping Editor and our Weddings Editor. There will be fun moments during this internship, but if you're hoping to spend your time styling models and selecting high fashion wear for the glossy pages of D Magazine, this probably isn't the internship for you. But here's what we are looking for: an organized, energetic intern with strong writing skills, who can multitask and maintain a positive attitude (even when we ask you to complete colorless assignments). You'll likely spend your time adding fashion and wedding-related events to our online calendars, adding businesses to our online directories, fact-checking our shopping directory, packaging and mailing giveaways, calling stores to get information, keeping tabs on sales and bridal trunk shows, researching fashion trends and bridal content online, and occasionally, filling in as the publisher's assistant. There is a smidge of glamour, though. Opportunities will come up to assist on the bridal gown shoot for D Weddings, to run out to boutiques to round up interesting ideas for online shopping features, to contribute to the ShopTalk and BridalBuzz blogs, and to assist with big projects, like the 10 Most Beautiful Women in Dallas. Be prepared to spend the majority of your time researching online, working on the web side of things, loading content to dmagazine.com
SocialTract Intern
Love social media? Find yourself spending more time connecting with people on the newest platforms? We are currently looking for an intern to work alongside our team at D Custom, D Magazine's in-house content marketing agency, on one of our social media-based projects. The SocialTract intern will assist Account Service Team in updating and maintaining multiple client blogs and social media accounts as well as organizing incoming client data. General knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and social media is required. Software competencies must include familiarity and comfort with Microsoft Excel and WordPress. This position requires great attention to detail and strong organizational skills as well as an ability to meet demanding deadlines.
Web Intern
If you're tech-savvy and hard working, the web team is looking for you. We need students with an interest in online publishing. The ideal candidate would be organized, undeterred by tedious tasks, and generally willing to pitch in wherever needed. Projects may include resizing images, loading images to the online media gallery, fact checking, research, and data entry.
